William Wasson Simpson IV

William Wasson Simpson IV, 83, formerly of Lonaconing, passed away on Sunday, August 18, 2024 at UPMC Western Maryland, Cumberland. Born on September 22, 1940 in Baltimore, he was the son of the late William Wasson Simpson III and Marie Delores (Gould) Simpson.

He was preceded by a grandson, John Bannon.

William and his wife often attended the Methodist church. He had worked in Jessup, MD, employed by Maryland Wholesale Seafood Market. In his spare time, he enjoyed reading and gardening. He loved listening to all kinds of music and often spoke about his ticket to Woodstock and how he did not make it to the show due to getting stuck in traffic. He especially enjoyed volunteering and loved children; he was fondly known by many as “Pop.” Always lending a helping hand, he was an all-around good guy and he will be dearly missed.

He is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Dolores Simpson, he was devoted to her. He is also survived by his three children, Kelly Bannon and husband Richard, William Simpson, and James Simpson; four grandchildren, Jessica Kaschenbach and husband Lenny, Richard Bannon and wife Jamie, James Simpson, and Seth Simpson; ten great-grandchildren, Alex, Dillon, Emily, Isabelle, Rich, Sumer, Will, Owen, Autumn, and Johnna; three great-great-grandchildren, Arabella, Eli, and Allie.

At his request he will be cremated. William is in the care of Wilhelm-Eakin Funeral Home, P.A., Lonaconing.
