William “Quack” E. Gardner, 76, of Keyser, WV and formerly of Lonaconing passed away Wednesday, June 14, 2017 at his residence. Born on August 4, 1940 in Lonaconing he was the son of the late William G. Gardner and Sarah (Shockey) Gardner.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 40 years, Rosie (Hughes) Gardner and his four sisters, Betty, Ethel Mae, Dorothy and Mary Lou.
He was a 1958 graduate of Valley High School and a veteran of the U.S. Army. He was formerly employed by Westvaco Corporation for 20 years. He was also the owner of numerous laundromats in the area and he repaired appliances for years. Quack was an avid hunter and trapper. He loved duckpin bowling, throwing horseshoes, running, playing basketball and watching any sport shows and western movies. He will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew him.
He is survived by his sons, William Gardner and wife Lisa, Lonnie Gardner and wife Rhonda and daughter Tammy Shockey and husband Gary; very special friend, Susan Davis; five grandchildren, Brittany, Shannon, Amanda, Tiffany and Brady and great-grandson, Jakob.
Family and friends will be received on Saturday, June 17, 2017 from 4-6PM at the Wilhelm-Eakin Funeral Home, P.A., Lonaconing. A memorial service will immediately follow at 6:00PM with Rev. Fred Iser officiating. Inurnment will be held at Laurel Hill Cemetery at a later date.
