Walter "AJ" Foote, 65, of Bucks Hill Road, Lonaconing died Tuesday, February 18, 2014. Born on July 13, 1948 in Lonaconing he was the son of the late James Foote and Blanche (Wilson) Foote.
He was preceded in death by four brothers, Jim, Elden "Bud", John and Charlie and one sister, Patty Kyle.
He was a Valley High School class of 1966 graduate. A veteran of the U.S. Air Force serving in the Vietnam War, Walter was a Master Sergeant and served his country for 21 years. He was a Lifetime Member of the Barton American Legion Post #189, Vietnam Veterans of America Chapter #172, Cumberland, V.F.W. Post 6605, Warner Robins, GA, Midland Sportsman's Club and the Lonaconing Republican Club.
He is survived by one brother, Warren "Whiz" Foote of Lonaconing, a sister-in-law, Christine Foote of Lonaconing and numerous nieces and nephews.
Family and friends will be received at the Wilhelm-Eakin Funeral Home, P.A., Lonaconing on Sunday, February 23, 2014 from 2-4 PM and 7-9 PM. A memorial service will be held by Barton American Legion Post #189 at 7:00 PM. A funeral service will be held on Monday, February 24, 2014 at 1:00 PM at the funeral home with Rev. George Loar officiating. Interment will be held at Rocky Gap Veterans Cemetery, Flintstone. Military Rites will be accorded by Combined Honor Guard Post #13, Cumberland.
