Thelma Lee Dixon, 85, formerly of Douglas Avenue, Lonaconing died Saturday, September 17, 2011 at Egle Nursing and Rehab Center, Lonaconing. Born on August 5, 1926 in Lonaconing she was the daughter of the late Harry Baker Dixon and Estella (Roberston) Dixon.
Thelma was a graduate of Maryland State School for the Deaf. She retired as the residential supervisor for Indiana School for the Deaf where she supervised grades 1-6 and had also worked at the Maryland State School for the Deaf. She was affiliated with the First Presbyterian Church, Lonaconing.
She is survived by her brother, Harry Dixon and wife Katherine of North Huntingdon, PA; nieces and nephews, Amy Matteazzi and husband Richard of Orland Park, IL, Gary Dixon and wife Catharine of North Huntingdon, PA and James Dixon of Huntsville, AL and great-nieces and great-nephews, Becky Dixon, Michael Dixon, Melanie Dixon, Zachary Dixon, Sarah Matteazzi and Megan Matteazzi.
Family and friends will be received at the Eichhorn-McKenzie Funeral Home, P.A., Lonaconing on Wednesday, September 21, 2001 from 10 – 11 AM. A funeral service will follow at 11:00 AM with Rev. Thomas Morgan officiating. Inurnment will be held at a later date at Oak Hill Cemetery, Lonaconing.
