Terrance “Mike” Michael Getson, 62, of Buskirk Hollow Road, Frostburg died Friday, July 24, 2015 at his residence. Born in Keyser, WV on January 3, 1953 he was the son of the late William F. Getson and Mary C. (Lambert) Getson.
Mike was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Lonaconing and attended the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, LaVale. He was 1972 graduate of Valley High School. He worked as a truck driver and mechanic for most of his working career. He had worked for Kight Sanitation for 20 years. He also worked for Sloan’s Septic Services, Martin Brothers Concrete and as a custodian at Beall High School for a short period of time.
Mike was a musician in various local bands throughout the years; he played rhythm guitar and sang. He was part of several bands over the years including the Sliver City Band, Blazing Country and The Sundowners. He also enjoyed hunting and working on cars. He had been a member of the George’s Creek Cruisers and taught Maryland Hunter Safety Courses. He also enjoyed singing karaoke with Crockett at Frostburg Village Nursing Home.
He is survived by his loving wife of 31 years, Sandy Getson; two sons, Michael C. Getson and wife Lindsay of LaVale and Josh Getson and wife Sherri of Keyser, WV; three granddaughters, Kadence Getson, Abby Todd and Izzy Getson; one sister, Diona Blubaugh Andrews and husband Chuck of Barton; two sisters-in-law, Donna Beck of Boiling Springs, PA and Pauline Bucklew of Lonaconing and numerous nieces and nephews.
Family and friends will be received at the Wilhelm-Eakin Funeral Home, P.A., Midland on Sunday, July 26, 2015 from 5-9PM. A funeral service will be held at the funeral home on Monday, July 27, 2015 at 11:00 AM with Rev. Bernadette Ross, Brother Steve Whited and Brother Lynn Olson officiating. Interment will be held at Frostburg Memorial Park.
