Shirley Mae Green Wilson, formerly of Beans Cove Road, Clearville , PA, and Gilmore, MD, passed away peacefully at Cumberland Healthcare on Wednesday, March 6 th , where she had been a resident for two months.
She was born on December 29 , 1933, to Frederick Ward Green and Lucinda Ellen Broadwater Green in Lonaconing and grew up helping on the family farm in Garrett County in her younger years.
Shirley graduated from Central High School in 1951 and married George Theodore Wilson Sr. shortly thereafter. She was a homemaker and mother of three.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her former husband George Wilson in 2013 , her son George Theodore Wilson Jr. in 2000, her granddaughter Heather Marie McFarland in 1979, and her companion Cecil Beeman in 2011 .
Shirley was a loving mother, grandmother , and great-grandmother. She is survived by her sister Frances Green Patton Smith, Rawlings , her daughters Sharlene McFarland an d husband Mike of Cumberland, Barbara and husband Jim S haffer, of Woodbridge, VA, and d aughter-in-law B eatrice Wilson, Cumberland. Grandchildren: Tracy Danesi (Wellington, OH), Jason Wilson and wife Amber, Flintstone, Teddy Wilson, John McFarland and wife Alice (all of C umberland), and Megan McFarland ( Rockville, MD ) .
Thirteen great-grandchildren: Abraham, Rianna , Elizabeth, Jo hnny, Joseph, Alicia, Gabriel, Matthew, Henry, Christopher, Josiah, Grace, and Lily.
Shirley enjoyed music, reading, watching Whe el of Fortune and Jeopardy, time with family and friends, and making daily birthday calls. She was very good at remembering everyone’s birthday and would make sure to call them to say Happy Birthday. She was also very fond of animals.
Special thanks goes to the staff at the Schwab Family Cancer Center at WMHS and Dr. Blanche Mavromatis, the nursing staff on 7 South where she was a patient several times, as well as the staff at Cumberland Healthcare for the love and care she received during her battle with cancer.
Services will be held on Saturday, March 23, 2019 at 2:00 PM at the Midland location with Rev. Thomas. Morgan officiating. Family and friends will be received two hours prior to the service. Interment will he held at Green Cemetery, Lonaconing.
Expressions of sympathy can be made in her name to the Schwab Family Cancer Center at WMHS.
