Shirley Marie Robertson, 88, passed away January 6, 2022 at Mountain City Center for Rehabilitation and Nursing in Frostburg.
Born on August 12, 1933, she was the daughter of the late Jesse C. Warnick and Florence Etta (Bittinger) Warnick. She was preceded in death by her husband, Donnie Robertson in 1986; sisters Geraldine Sigler, Freda Thomas, Mayme Densmore, Zelda Orr, Leah Warnick, Joan Darnell and her brother, James Warnick.
A June 6, 1952 graduate of Central High School, Lonaconing, Shirley was salutatorian of her class. Upon graduation, she was employed as secretary of Allegany High School in Cumberland. After raising her children she entered the workforce in Frostburg again as a secretary for The Goodfellow Agency and later as secretary for the Braskey Law Offices until her retirement in the late 1990s.
Although she took pride in her scholastic and secular achievements, Shirley’s greatest joy was in the relationship she developed with her creator, Jehovah God. She symbolized her dedication to her God by being baptized as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses on June 30, 1952. She was a member of the Frostburg Congregation of Jehovah’s Witnesses.
An avid Bible student and Bible teacher, Shirley loved to learn the truths contained in God’s Word, one of which is the resurrection of the dead to a global paradise earth as Jehovah God originally purposed. Shirley didn’t keep these truths to herself. She shared them with everyone she could in her ministry. A beautiful spiritual example for her children and grandchildren, Shirley often quoted 3 John 4: “No greater joy do I have than this: that I should hear that my children go on walking in the truth.”
Surviving are her children, Mark S. Robertson and wife Elaine of Arizona City, AZ; Melinda C. Alderton and husband Jeffrey, Frostburg, and Douglas E. Robertson and wife Laura, of Casa Grande, AZ; grandchildren Tania Pressman and husband Todd; Kristen Derry and husband Quentin; Carly Alderton; Kimberly Robertson; Erica Siegel and husband Sascha; Stephanie Cushman and husband Greg; Andrew Robertson and wife Liz Beth; seven great grandchildren; a sister, Jean Beeman, and numerous nieces and nephews.
We would like to thank the many friends and family who kept Shirley in their thoughts and prayers. A loving thank you also goes to the staff at Mountain City Center for the professional and loving care that our mother received throughout her many years suffering from Alzheimer’s disease.
If our mom was here today, she would encourage everyone to read their Bibles, and learn for themselves the hope detailed in God’s Word for a wonderful future. She had deep faith that Jehovah shall fulfill each one of his promises.
Services will be held via Zoom on Saturday, January 22, 2022 at 1 p.m. with her son Douglas Robertson officiating.
Funeral arrangements are being completed by the Wilhelm-Eakin Funeral Home, P.A., Lonaconing.
