Shirley Ruth Beeman, 80, of Island Street, Lonaconing died Friday, April 15, 2016 at Western Maryland Regional Medical Center, Cumberland. Born on January 12, 1936 in Barton she was the daughter of the late Thomas I. Metz and Edith (Dawson) Metz.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John Donald Beeman, four sisters, Mildred Wilkes, Evelyn Nolan, Lucile Houser and Grace Kyle and five brothers, Harold, Donald, Raymond, Chester and Russel Metz.
Shirley was a 1954 graduate of Valley High School. She worked 31 years in the cafeteria at Valley High School, Westmar High School and what is now Westmar Middle School. She was a loving mother and provider for her two daughters.
She is survived by her daughters, Jona Don Beeman and Dona Jon Beeman; three sisters, Dorothy Dodds, Lois Woodworth and Doris Miller; three brothers, Victor Metz, Tommy Metz and Bobby Metz; three sisters-in-law Frances Beeman, Liz Kinney and Reba Dermer and husband Joe; numerous nieces and nephews including a special nephew David Beeman and special niece Cheryl Cecil and husband Ron and family.
Family and friends will be received at Wilhelm-Eakin Funeral Home, P.A., Lonaconing on Tuesday, April 19, 2016 from 2-4PM. A funeral service will follow at 4:00PM with Rev. Tom Lantz officiating. Interment will be held at Frostburg Memorial Park, Frostburg.
