Shirley Ann Baker, 68, of Upper Paradise Street, Midland went to be with the Lord on Friday, February 6, 2015 at home with her family by her side. Born on November 29, 1946 in Westernport she was the daughter of the late Irvin L. Bennett, Sr. and Hazel M. (Gaither) Bennett.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Ronnie Bennett, a sister-in-law, Eleanor Bennett and a brother-in-law, Lionel F. Baker.
Shirley was a graduate of Valley High School class of 1965 and a member of St. Michael's Catholic Church, Frostburg. She had worked at Scotty's Restaurant, Midland, Frostburg Nursing and Rehab, Hampton Inn, Frostburg and High Rock Bingo. She was a avid bowler at Sherwood Lanes and The Bowler. Her two grandchildren were very dear to her heart and brought so much joy to her life.
She is survived by her husband of 47 years, John "Jack" W. Baker. Shirley and Jack were the first couple wed at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Midland on August 5 of 1967.
She is also survived by her two children, Cathy Martin and Jimmy Barton of Frostburg and John Baker and wife Debra of Cumberland; two very special grandchildren, Jesse Baker and Molle Martin both of Frostburg; a sister, Emma Courtney and husband Doug of Keyser, WV; two brothers, Billy L. Bennett and Margie Murphy of Cumberland and Irvin "Sonner" Bennett and wife Sandy of Barton; three sisters-in-law, Lois Bennett of Lonaconing, Eileen Baker and Julie Brubaker both of Midland and numerous nieces and nephews.
Janet Rennie and Nikki Hare gave special care and concern for Shirley during her illness and for this the Baker family will be forever grateful.
Family and friends will be received at the Wilhelm-Eakin Funeral Home, P.A., Midland on Monday, February 9, 2015 from 11:00 AM - 2:00 PM. A funeral service will immediately follow at 2:00 PM with Deacon Harold Bradley officiating. Inurnment will be held in the spring at St. Joseph's Catholic Cemetery, Midland.
