Ronald Samuel Smith, 69, of Furnace Street, Lonaconing died Friday, November 25, 2016. Born February 18, 1947 he was the son of the late Samuel Smith and the late Helen (Dodds) Smith.
He was also preceded in death by his step-mother Helen (Whiteman) Smith and a step-sister Arlene Beeman.
Ronnie was a graduate of Valley High School class of 1965. Following graduation he worked for Celanese Corporation until their closing. Ronnie became self-employed in the home improvement business. He also worked for the Allegany County Election Board for 35 years.
Ronnie was an avid hunter and enjoyed hunting with his sons. He also enjoyed duck pin bowling. He was often seen fishing in the company of his lifelong friend Bobby Shockey; Bobby worked alongside Ronnie for many years. They always had plenty of stories to tell about the old days. Ronnie also liked to ride out to Savage River and spend time with another lifelong friend Fred Metz.
He is survived by his wife of 48 years Linda Smith; five children Missy Smith of Lonaconing, Jeff Smith of Barton, Mike Smith and wife Mary of Lonaconing, Chris Smith and wife Tara of Moscow and Mandy Beeman and husband Danny of Lonaconing; two brothers Wayne Smith of Lonaconing and Jim McKinley and wife Donna of Cresaptown; two sisters Bette Dawson and husband Tom of Lonaconing and Sandra Doyle of Kansas City, MO; eight grandchildren Lauren Daum and husband Chris of Virginia Beach, Haley, Samantha, Jayme, Molly, Keeley and Ian Smith and Jenna Beeman; one great-granddaughter Ava Grace Daum and several nieces and nephews.
Family and friends will be received at Wilhelm-Eakin Funeral Home, P.A., Lonaconing on Thursday, December 1, 2016 from 3-5PM. A memorial service will be held immediately following at 5:00PM with Pastor Wayne Sloan.
