Robert "Bob" Smith

Robert “Bob” Bartholomew Smith, 79, of West Main Street, Lonaconing died July 25, 2017 at his residence. Born on August 24, 1937 in Detmold he was the son of the late John S. Smith Sr. and Fannie (Main) Smith.

He was preceded in death by five siblings, William, John, Alex, Andrew and Betty Smith and a great-grandson, Brayden.

Bob was a 1955 graduate of Valley High School. He worked for Kelly Springfield for 28 ½ years and for the Town of Lonaconing for 12 years. He loved spending time with family, especially his children and grandchildren.

He is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Wanda (Warnick) Smith; three children, William R. Smith, Bob Smith and wife Rhonda and Barbara Wilhelm and husband Gilby Jr. all of Lonaconing ; four grandchildren, Mandy Smith, Bobby Smith and fiancé Ashley, Gilby Wilhelm III and wife Beth and Jacy Wilhelm and fiancé Jason; three great-grandchildren, Brady, Gavin and Kalen Smith and a new baby expected in November and Baby Wilhelm expected in January; a brother, Jim Smith and wife Dianni of Frostburg; a sister, Ann Brown of Lonaconing and numerous nieces and nephews.

Family and friends will be received on Friday, July 28, 2017 from 5-8PM at the Wilhelm-Eakin Funeral Home, P.A., Lonaconing. A funeral service will be held at the funeral home on Saturday, July 29, 2017 at 11:00AM with Rev. George Loar officiating. Interment will be held at Frostburg Memorial Park.

The family would like to thank Dr. Zaman and the Schwab Family Cancer Center for the care given and compassion shown to Bob during his illness.
