Robert Lee Phillips Sr., 73, of Front Street, Lonaconing died Monday, August 24, 2015 at his residence. Born on January 3, 1942 in Lonaconing he was the son of the late Jim Phillips and Ruth (Timney) Phillips.
He was preceded in death by his son, Robert Lee Phillips Jr. on July 1, 2013.
Bob was protestant by faith. He was a graduate of Valley High School class of 1960. The former owner of Lonaconing Garbage Disposal and Phillips’ Store, he also owned and operated Phillips Coal Company for over 40 years.
He is survived by his loving wife of 53 years Carolyn (Ashby) Phillips; two daughters, Marla K. Mayles and husband Bob of Swanton and Dena Beachy and John McGee of Cumberland; two grandsons, Matt and Michael Mayles of Swanton; one brother, Jack Phillips of Lonaconing and two nephews, John and Todd Phillips.
Family and friends will be received on Wednesday, August 26, 2015 from 5-8PM at the Wilhelm-Eakin Funeral Home, P.A., Lonaconing. A funeral service will be held on Thursday, August 27, 2015 at 11:00AM with Rev. Charles Winebrenner officiating. Interment will be held at Laurel Hill Cemetery, Moscow Mills.
