Robert Mcmillan, Sr.

Robert Hugh McMillan,Sr., 85, of Old Dan's Rock Road, Midland died Monday, February 6, 2012 at the Martinsburg VA Medical Center, WV. Born on July 27, 1926 he was the son of the late Hugh H. McMillan and Bertha Catherine (McGowan) McMillan.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Rose Mary (Buckalew) McMillan on July 11, 1993 and his brother, Edward J. McMillan.

Robert was a veteran of U.S. Army serving in WWII. He was a graduate of Catherman's Business School and retired from Montgomery Ward. He was a member of Farrady Post #24 American Legion, Frostburg.

He is survived by his wife, Joyce (Chambers) McMillan; three sons, Robert Hugh McMillan, Jr. and wife LaWana of Frostburg, Timothy N. McMillan and wife Beth of Grantsville and Mark H. McMillan of Lonaconing; one daughter, Deborah M. Bittinger and husband Dwight of Midland; seven grandchildren, Robert H. McMillan III, Richard O. McMillan, Zachary R. Bittinger, Sidney M. Bittinger, Sarah Morton, Heidi L. McMillan and Lucas T. McMillan and five great-grandchildren; one sister, Mary Catherine Wiley of Grantsville; one sister-in-law, Audrey Tarun McMillan of Baltimore and several nieces and nephews.

At his request his body was donated to the West Virginia University Human Gift Registry.

A memorial service will be held on Thursday, February 9, 2012 at 11:00 AM with Rev. Harry Burchell officiating at Eichhorn-McKenzie Funeral Home, P.A., Midland (www.eichhornmckenzie.com). Friends and family will be received one hour prior to the service. Inurnment will be held at Frostburg Memorial Park.
