Richard Madison Blair, 85, of Midland died Sunday, March 7, 2021 at UPMC Western Maryland. Born October 22, 1935, he was the son of the late John and Virginia (Walbert) Blair.
He was preceded in death by his wife Beverly Blair; his son Brian Blair and his brother Stewart Blair.
He was a 1953 graduate of Beall High School and also graduated from Drexel University. He served in the National Guard and was a civil engineer for Carl Belt Inc. He was the current Mayor of Midland and was on the Town Council for many years. He was a member of Grace United Methodist Church, Midland. He still enjoyed shooting hoops at Midland’s basketball court and was an avid Steelers fan.
He is survived by one daughter, Gwynne Sturtz and husband Robert; three sons, Richard Blair Sr., Michael Blair and wife Megan and Robert Blair and wife Candice; nine grandchildren, Richard Blair Jr. and Anna, Charles Blair and wife Melanie, Shawnda Blair, Shaela Murtha and husband Nathan, Jessie Fazenbaker, Makayla Blair, Jordyn Blair, Hayden Blair and Alex Blair; six great grandchildren, Daniel, Keana, Draven, Kierrah, Phoenix and River; one step-great grandchild, Michael Smith; one sister, Jane Kroll; three brothers, Don Blair, Wray Blair and wife Maxine and John Blair and wife Mary Lynn; one sister-in-law, Shirley Blair; a former daughter-in-law, Tammie Blair and numerous nieces and nephews.
Family and friends will be received on Wednesday March 10, 2021 from 2:00 PM – 4:00 PM and 7:00 PM- 9:00 PM at Wilhelm-Eakin Funeral Home P.A., Midland. Funeral services will be held on Thursday March 11, 2021 at 10:00 AM at Grace United Methodist Church will Rev. Heerak Kim officiating. Interment will follow at Frostburg Memorial Park, Frostburg.
Due to the restrictions of the Covid-19 Virus, face masks and practicing safe social distancing will be required.
