Rawlings, MD
Rev. Madeline Eula Cook, 91, of Lakewood Drive, Rawlings and formerly of Six Mile Road, LaVale went to be home with her sweet Jesus on Wednesday, March 9, 2016 at her residence. Born on August 1, 1924 in Vindex, Maryland she was the daughter of the late Joseph Smith and Theresa (Wright) Smith.
She was preceded in death by four sisters and two brothers. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family.
She ministered God’s Little Chapel in LaVale for 43 years. She dedicated herself to her family and church. All day meetings were held and cookouts took place after Sunday service. Many stockings were sent overseas for children, grocery baskets were prepared and blankets were made for the homeless. Over the years she ministered throughout the local nursing homes and hospitals working in pastoral care. She officiated for 38 weddings and 45 funerals, many baptisms and children’s dedications. The world will be missing a very special lady and heaven has gained an angel.
She is survived by her loving husband of 53 years, George E. Cook; three children, Virgil Loar, Jr. and wife Mary of Centerville, PA, Sandra Anderson and husband John of Mexico Farms and Sue Cook of Rawlings; one grandson, Michael F. Beeman and wife Christina of Columbia, PA; two great-grandsons, Caleb and Jacob Beeman; many other “grandchildren” who will be missing their Grandma MooMoo and a “daughter” Tina Spano of Rawlings.
Family and friends will be received at the Wilhelm-Eakin Funeral Home, P.A., Midland on Sunday, March 13, 2016 from 2-4PM and 7-9PM. A funeral service will be held at the funeral home on Monday, March 14, 2016 at 1:00PM with Lou Shaffer officiating. Interment will be held at Sunset Memorial Park, Cumberland.
