Raymond Verl Drew, 86, of Little Run Road, Midlothian, passed away at home on Thursday, September 28, 2023 with his wife, daughter, and granddaughter by his side. Born on November 2, 1936, he was the son of the late Ernest Drew and Zella Elizabeth (Negley) Drew.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Marie Eileen (Crowe) Drew and four siblings, David Edward Drew, Wayne Drew, Aleda Mae (Drew) Sevinsky and Sharon (Drew) Femi.
Raymond had worked for Carpenter’s Egg Plant, Frostburg and then several coal and trucking companies. In his younger days he enjoyed fishing and he took great pride in his yard. He was Pentecostal by faith.
He is survived by his loving and devoted wife of almost 20 years, Jon Ann (Kaisner) Drew and her son Brandon Scott; his daughter, Mary Beth Johnson, and husband David “Henny”; granddaughter, Rachel Marie Greig and husband Joel and their son, Ray’s first great-grandchild Dean, and soon to be born great-granddaughter Claire and his “Saturday morning breakfast date”, best bub and caregiver, granddaughter, Sarah Elizabeth Johnson and her significant other, Jimmy Ritchie and his daughter Sophia.
He is also survived by his last surviving sibling, brother, Ernest Drew, and wife Gail. Ray leaves behind his lifelong best friend and brother, Jim Keister; fellow laborer, Billy Hughes and friends, Billy Koppel and wife Diana who worked hard to keep Ray in a steady supply of pineapple upside down cake!
Family and friends will be received on Sunday, October 1, 2023 from 4-7 PM at Wilhelm-Eakin Funeral Home, P.A., Midland. A funeral service will be held on Monday, October 2, 2023 at 1:00 PM at the funeral home with Brother John Thomas officiating. Family and friends will be received one hour prior to the service. Internment will be held at St. Joseph’s Catholic Cemetery, Midland.
The family gives a special thank you to his charming sitter, Jennifer Robertson, his home healthcare nurse, Tyler DeVore, and Hospice’s Carrie.
