Raymond Donald Bourdeau, 83, of Steele Road, Lonaconing, died Friday, January 13, 2023 at UPMC Western Maryland, Cumberland. Born on June 18, 1939 in Rhode Island, he was the son of the late Raymond Charles Bourdeau and Clare Josephine (Herr) Bourdeau.
He was preceded in death by his sister, Joan Clare Thievon.
He served in the U.S. Army and U.S. Army Reserves, from 1961 to 1988, and retired as a Lieutenant Colonel.
Raymond was a graduate of Pleasantville High School in Pleasantville, NJ in 1957 and the New York School of Forestry in Syracuse, NY in 1961; he held a masters in psychology and a chemical engineering degree. He retired from Westvaco where he worked as chemical engineer and in the personnel department. A devoted member of Emmanuel Episcopal Church, Cumberland; he dedicated a significant amount of his time to the church, formerly as a trustee and as a deacon. He was also a member of the Torch Club.
He is survived by his wife, Nancy Bourdeau; two children, Carole Joan Burke and husband George William Burke and family of Stillwater, NJ and Arthur Bourdeau and wife Pamela Marie Bourdeau and grandson Charles Jeffrey Bourdeau of Wiergate, TX and extended family.
A memorial service will be held at Emmanuel Episcopal Church, Cumberland on Saturday, January 21, 2023 at 11:00 AM with Fr. John Reardon and Fr. John Martin officiating. Family and friends will be received one hour prior. Inurnment will take place at the Emmanuel Episcopal Church columbarium and military rites will be accorded. Wilhelm-Eakin Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers remembrances may take the form of memorial donations to St. Peter’s Episcopal Church at 6 St. Peter’s Place, Lonaconing, MD 21539.
