Ray Wilhelm

Ray Edward Wilhelm, 91, of Wilhelm Farm Road, Avilton died Monday, May 9, 2022 at his home. Born on November 12, 1930 at home in Avilton he was the son of the late Leonard Wilhelm, Sr. and Mary (Crowe) Wilhelm.

He was preceded in death by two sisters, Hazel Layman, Twila Mae Fike and seven brothers, Leonard Jr., Harry, Dale, Okey, Bobby, Gilbert Sr. and Olin Wilhelm.

Ray was a heavy equipment operator and life long farmer. He loved to hunt but not as much as he loved his family and the time he spent with them.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 68 years, Matilda Wilhelm; three children, Donna Wilhelm of Avilton, Danny Wilhelm and wife Gloria of OH and Mike Wilhelm and wife Jesse of Frostburg; eight grandchildren, Danielle, Danny, Lottie, Amber, April, Mike, Josh and Lyndsy; twelve great-grandchildren, Austin, Abby, Tristin, Kyrstin, Phoenix, Alayna, Gryphon, Evan, Caige, Reed, Marlie and Hunter; four great-great-grandchildren, Skylar, Caroline, Hailie and Ariel, his baby doll; two brothers, Ronald Wilhelm and Dallas Wilhelm; seven sisters, Susie Kamp, Mildred Husselbaugh, Jean Miller, Lois Rowe, Connie Burdock, Helen Michael and Sheila Baker and numerous nieces and nephews.

Family and friends will be received on Thursday, May 12, 2022 from 2-4 PM and 7-9 PM at Wilhelm-Eakin Funeral Home, P.A., Lonaconing. A funeral service will be held at the funeral home on Friday, May 13, 2022 at 11:00 AM with Rev. Daniel Agnew officiating. Interment will be held at Blocher Cemetery, Frostburg.

Pallbearers will be Danny Wilhelm, Mike Wilhelm, Danny James Wilhelm, Josh Wilhelm, Tristin Hobell and Austin Wilhelm.
