Phyllis Nicol

Phyllis Esther Beeman Nicol, 91, of Lonaconing passed away on Saturday December 30, 2017 at the Egle Nursing and Rehab Center.

She was born on October 6, 1926.  She was the daughter of the late Oscar G. Beeman and Catherine M. Timney Beeman.  She was also preceded in death by three brothers, Layton G. Beeman, Paul F. Beeman and an infant Harold Beeman.  She was preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, Hubert G. Nicol.

They were the parents of four children: Yvonne Nicol Green and husband Paul, Bethlehem, PA,  L. Wayne Nicol and late wife Marie of Lonaconing, MD, Karen Nicol Clark, Severna Park, MD and Gayle Nicol Kerns and husband Dave of Lonaconing, MD.

She had eight grandchildren, Brian S. Green, Pikesville, MD, Deron L. Green & Marianne of Montville, NJ, Briana Nicol Perry & Mickey of Frederick, MD, J. Andrew Nicol & Mandi of Frostburg, MD, Christopher Clark of Severna Park, MD, Jonathan Fazenbaker of Lonaconing, Shelby Kerns of Westernport and Jillian Kerns of Frostburg. She also had three great grandchildren Aubrey Perry, Jack Green and Ella Green and numerous nieces and nephews.

Phyllis graduated from Central High School.  She worked at the Celanese Corporation during WWII.  Later she worked at Scared Heart Hospital as a secretary and a nurses aide in the Physical Therapy Unit.

Phyllis bowled, played cards and loved to travel.  She was instrumental in getting the pool built at Dan’s Mountain State Park.

Phyllis was a resident of the Egle Nursing and Rehab Center for six years.  She thrived because of good care and the personal relationships.  Her family appreciates the good care and life they created for her.

Family and friends will be received on Wednesday, January 3, 2017 from 3-6 PM at the Wilhelm-Eakin Funeral Home, P.A., Lonaconing. A funeral will be held immediately following at 6:00 PM with Rev. Heerak Kim officiating. Inurnment will take place at a later date at Laurel Hill Cemetery, Moscow Mills.
