Phillip Allen Whiteman Sr.

Phillip Allen Whiteman Sr., 83, of Savage River, died Thursday, June 29, 2023 at home with his family by his side. Born on September 20, 1939 in Woodland, he was the son of the late William Irwin Whiteman and Catherine (McGee) Whiteman.

He was preceded in death by sisters, Ellen Payne and Donna Jean Sexton and a brother, William Whiteman and two granddaughters, Kelly Fairgrieve and Sarah Whiteman.

Phil retired as a maintenance mechanic supervisor from the Department of Juvenile Services. He attended the Bethel Holiness Church, Lonaconing. In his spare time he loved to hunt and fish and especially playing cards in the deer camp.

He is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Doris Whiteman; four children, Phyllis Shackleford (Wade) of Savage River, John Whiteman (Kim) of Cumberland, Phil Whiteman Jr. (Janet) of Pine Swamp Road and Vaughn Whiteman (Lucinda) of Savage River; sixteen grandchildren, thirty-three great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren; a sister, Thelma Foutz; a brother, Stanley Whiteman and numerous nieces and nephews and many friends that were considered part of the family.

Family and friends will be received on Sunday, July 2, 2023 from 1-6 PM at Wilhelm-Eakin Funeral Home, P.A., Lonaconing. A funeral service will be held at the funeral home on Monday, July 3, 2023 at 12:00 PM with Rev. Charles Winebrenner and Pastor David Schoch officiating.
