Naomi A. Grove, 96, of Frostburg Heights died Saturday, April 8, 2017 at Western Maryland Regional Medical Center, Cumberland. Born on March 7, 1921 in Carlos she was the daughter of the late Charles A. Wade and Jeanette (Filer) Wade.
She was preceded in death by her husband George P. Grove in February of 1974 and her sister Nancy Pickrell.
She was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Lonaconing. She was a 1939 graduate of Beall High School. As a homemaker she had also worked at the Office of Aging, Murphy’s 10 Cent Store, Frostburg and Queen City Dairy, Cumberland. She sat on the Board at Frostburg Village Nursing Home for three years. When her beloved husband was alive they enjoyed country western square dancing. Naomi’s favorite past times were gardening, reading, puzzles and cooking for her family. She loved to keep up with family and friends on Facebook.
She is survived by her six children Wade Grove and wife Carolyn of Leland, NC, Charles W. Grove of Deep Creek Lake and significant other Linda, Edward R. Grove and wife Pat of Bruceton Mills, WV, Mary Jeannette Tharp and husband George of Greencastle, PA, Paula Kerns and husband Rich of Florida and Gayle Grove Schade and significant other David of Greencastle, PA; 20 grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren and 4 great-great-grandchildren; two brothers Dale Wade and wife Judy of Frederick and Charles Wade and wife Eleanor of Greensburg, PA and numerous nieces and nephews.
“God decided it was time for her to help in His garden” A celebration of 96 years of a wonderful life will be held on Tuesday, April 11, 2017 at the Wilhelm-Eakin Funeral Home, P.A., Lonaconing. Family and friends will be received from Noon-2:00PM, with a memorial service being held at 2:00PM with Rev. Fred Iser officiating.
