Mildred Jean George, 82, of Fayette Street, Cumberland and formerly of Lonaconing, died Thursday, November 3, 2011 at the Egle Nursing and Rehab Center, Lonaconing. Born December 25, 1928 she was the daughter of the late Clarence Green and Alice (Warnick) Green.
Mildred was a member of the Church of the Nazarene. She enjoyed being a member of the Cumberland Valley Optimist Club, especially during their annual holiday event, shop with a cop. She was a graduate of Barton School and most of her life she was a homemaker. She was also a foster parent and along with her late husband, William Jay, she opened her home and her heart to over 60 foster children.
She is survived by her children, Wm Jay George and wife Sharon, Bernard "Bernie" L. George and wife Mary, Wayne D. George, Charles "Chuck" E. George and wife Glenda, Marilyn Vauls and husband Kevin and Robert "Bob" George and wife Cindy; fifteen grandchildren, Gina Fox, Jason George and wife Dawn, Juliet Godlove and husband Matthew, Kristina Blizzard and husband Bill, Patrick L. George, Christopher "Chris" George and wife Amy, Timothy George and wife Pranitha, Michael "Mike" George, Richelle George, Mandalenea Wilt, Angela Wilt, Brittany Wilt, Wayne George and wife Doniel, Robert George, Jr. and Gregory George; fourteen great-grandchildren, Alicia, Kaitlin Jo, Ava, Catherine, Carlee, Noah, Joshua, Samuel, Daniel, Pranesh, Mackenzie, Jaelyn, Robert and Madison; three siblings, Shirley Cumberland, Betty Yommer and Clarence Green and numerous nieces and nephews.

), Lonaconing on Sunday, November 6, 2011 from 2-4 PM and 7-9 PM. A funeral service will be held at the funeral home on Monday, November 7, 2011 at 11:00 AM with Rev. Arthur Evans officiating. Interment will be held at Laurel Hill Cemetery, Moscow Mills.
