Mary Russell Devlin, 87, of Broad Street, Midland died Thursday, May 26, 2011 at her residence with her family by her side. Born March 27, 1924 in Barton she was the daughter of the late Harry Troxell Russell and Minnie (Wilhelm) Russell.
She was preceded in death by her husband Harry J. Devlin on October 14, 1984 and her brother Harry Russell.
Mary was a homemaker and the mother of six children. She was Catholic by faith and member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Midland. She graduated from Barton High School and continued her education, graduating from, Catherman's Business School in Washington, D.C.. She also completed calculus courses at John Hopkins University for wartime bullet manufacturing.
She is survived by her six children, Dr. Daniel T. Devlin and wife Jeanette (Stafford) of Ellicott City, William J. Devlin and wife Judy (Wilkinson) of Midland, Dr. Mary Ann Moore and husband Tom of Cambridge, Harry J. Devlin, Jr. and wife Lisa (Livengood) of Midland, John L. Devlin and wife Kate (Malone) of Mt. Airy and Bridget Devlin Plummer and husband Kevin of New Market; eighteen grandchildren, Christy Delovitch, Dr. Jill Devlin Lee and husband Michael, Erin Devlin and fiancé Jeremy Braverman, Betsy Devlin and fiancé Lenny Versluss, Ashley Devlin, Lauren Devlin, John Moore, Scott Moore, Colleen Moore, Holly Williams, Sean Devlin, Brooke Devlin, Rebecca Devlin, Kelly Devlin, Megan Devlin, Zachary Devlin, Bryon Plummer and Brandon Plummer and; four great-grandchildren and one on the way, William and Henry Delovitch, Hayes Lee, Aidan Versluss and Baby Girl Braverman; sister-in-law, Mary Turner Russell; niece, Peggy Dunlap and Devlin nieces and nephews and adopted aunt and uncle Betty and Joe Mills.
A Funeral Mass will be held Saturday, May 28, 2011 at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Midland at 1:00 PM by Rev. Gregory Chervenak, OSM Cap. Family and friends will be received one hour prior to the service from Noon - 1:00 PM. Inurnment will be held at St. Michael's Cemetery, Frostburg.
