Mary Jo Barclay Wilmoth, 91, of Lonaconing died August 5, 2018 at Egle Nursing Home, Lonaconing. Born on November 8, 1926 in Gilmore, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Nellie (McGowan) Mills.
She was preceded in death by her husband Frank Wilmoth, George Washington Barclay the father of her children, a sister Bernadette Murphy and one brother Regis Mills.
Mary was a graduate of Central High School. She retired from the lab at Kelly Springfield Tire Company in Cumberland. Mary was an avid camper, going with her sons to Elk Lick, Savage River State Forest annually up till her passing. She loved to sleep there in her recliner, under the stars; no tent required. A lover of sweets, treats and fine chocolates; she was more than happy to share. She had a passion and anticipation of her trips to Candyland and on to Dairy Queen.
She enjoyed her time at Egle Nursing Home. Her favorite activity was bingo. Everyone who entered her room was her favorite person. She said the food was wonderful and family joined her many times for meals. Mom felt a connection to all of the staff and residents who became extended family.
She is survived by three children, Robert Joseph Barclay and wife Laurie of Lacey, WA, George William Barclay and wife Sue of Knoxville, TN and Betty Anne Barclay of Frostburg and friend Larry Frazier; nine grandchildren, Julie Barclay and husband Robert, Jeff Barclay, Shawn Barclay, Josh Barclay, Julie Scott and husband Mike, Terri Willinghan and Husband Tim, Ali Miller, Courtney Golf and husband Chandler, Erin Miller and wife Jenn Lawton and Michelle Crawford and husband Chuck; eleven great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren; four brothers, Joseph J. Mills of Frostburg, James Brennan Mills of Midland, William R. Mills of Sacramento, CA, Edward Paul Mills of OH and numerous nieces and nephews.
Friends will be received at the
Wilhelm-Eakin
Funeral Home, P.A., Lonaconing on Wednesday, August 8, 2018 from 2:00 PM- 5:00 PM. A funeral service will immediately follow at 5:00 PM with Deacon Harold Bradley officiating. Interment will be held at Sunset Memorial Park, Cumberland. A vigil will be held in Mary’s memory at the camp site in October.
