Margaret (Staup) Vinci

Margaret “Peg” (Staup) Vinci, 91, of Nikep, died May 7, 2010 at Egle Nursing and Rehab Center, Lonaconing, where she was a patient for nine years.

She was born March 21, 1919 in Lonaconing, a daughter of the late James H. and Grace (Waddell) Staup.

She was preceded in death by five sisters, Gladys Burkett, Anna Johnson, Edna Cam-eron, Edith Wiebrecht and Betty Robeson; and four brothers, James, George, Leslie and Galen Staup. On April 19, 1937 she married Thomas L. Vinci, who died March 21, 1982. An infant daughter, Margaret L. Vinci, died Feb. 24, 1940.

Mrs. Vinci attended Rock-ville School and Central High School in Lonaconing. She worked at the Allegany County Board of Education as a janitor and at Kyle Nursing Home as an assistant.

She was a homemaker and excellent cook. She loved spending summers on Savage River. She was a member of the First Assembly of God Church in Lonaconing. She was a kind and generous person, who never had a bad word to say about another person and who always had a place at the table for everyone.

Surviving are three sons, Norman T. Vinci, Nikep, Richard E. Vinci and wife Bonita and Robert L. Vinci and wife Christa; eight grandchildren, Vicki Hardman, Kathy Beeman, Robbie Vinci, Kelly McCauley, Christopher Vinci, Shawn Vinci, Ursula Vinci and Michele Robey; 13 great-grandchildren; nine great-great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews, including special newphew, Michael Staup, Nikep, whom she considered a son; grand-nieces and nephews; numerous cousins, including special cousin, Mildred Andrews, her roommate at Egle Nursing Home for the past eight years.

Family and friends will be received at the Eichhorn-McKenzie Funeral Home, P.A., 8 East Main St., Lonaconing, on Monday, May 10, 2010 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.

Funeral services will be held at the funeral home on Tuesday, May 11, 2010 at 1 p.m. with Pastor Robert S. Whitecotton officiating.

Private interment will be held at Laurel Hill Cemetery, Moscow Mills.
