Lewis Harry McKenzie Sr., of Quinn Street, Gilmore, passed away at home on Friday, May 25, 2018 with his family by his side. Born on February 13, 1951, he was the son of the late Roy McKenzie Sr. and Kathleen (Lease) McKenzie.
Lewis was a veteran of the U.S. Army who served during the Vietnam era. He was a member of the Barton American Legion Post #189. A graduate of Valley High School he worked in home improvement. He was a member of Vale Summit Methodist Church. He enjoyed spending time at Pit & Go with his buddies, joking and having a good time.
Lewis is survived by his wife of 44 years, Wilda McKenzie; children, Lewis “Lou” McKenzie Jr. of Frostburg, Todd McKenzie of Gilmore and Jennifer Thomas and husband Ryan of Frostburg; five grandchildren, Wyatt, Ethan, Griffin, Lydia and Jack; five brothers and two sisters and numerous nieces and nephews.
Family and friends will be received on Monday, May 28, 2018 from 7:00 PM – 9:00 PM at the Wilhelm-Eakin Funeral Home, P.A., Midland. A memorial service will be held by the Barton American Legion Post #189 at 7:00 PM. A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, May 29, 2018 at 1:00 PM at Rocky Gap Veterans Cemetery with Rev. George Harpold officiating. Military Rites will be accorded by Vietnam Veterans of America Chapter 172, Cumberland.
Pallbearers will be Gary McKenzie Sr., Gary McKenzie Jr., George Hansrote III, Norman McKenzie, Roy McKenzie, Jr. and Marty Bennett.
