Lester Leroy Dawson, 80, went to be with his Lord on Sunday, February 10, 2013 at the Western Maryland Regional Medical Center surrounded by his loved ones. Born on December 20, 1932, he was the son of the late Homer and Wilda (McKenzie) Dawson.
Lester graduated from Central High School in 1950. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army. He was a member of Vale Summit United Methodist Church. Lester worked at the Farmers Dairy and retired from the Pittsburgh Plate and Glass Factory.
He enjoyed sports and played baseball, soccer and basketball in high school. In 1985 Lester was inducted into the Lonaconing Hall of Fame, which is their highest award for excellence in sports.
Lester is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Larna (Cutter) Dawson and one sister, Mary Lou Arnold. He has many cousins, nieces, nephews and brothers and sisters-in-law. He loved all of his family and a large extended family.
There will be no viewing. A graveside service will be conducted at Frostburg Memorial Park on Thursday, February 14, 2013 at 10:30 AM with Rev. George Harpold officiating. Eichhorn-McKenzie Funeral Home, P.A., Lonaconing (www.eichhornmckenzie.com) handled the arrangements.
