Leah Jo Marsh, 95, of Watercliff Street, Lonaconing, died Friday, February 25, 2022 at her residence. Born on July 7, 1926, she was the daughter of the late Joseph Dudley and Ruth (Miller) Dudley Chapman.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Elmer Abbott Marsh, two sisters, Bettie LaJoie and Florence Ann McPhee; a daughter-in-law, Merillee Marsh, a granddaughter, Misty Autumn Marsh and a nephew, Michael LaJoie. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family.

Leah was a graduate of Central High School, graduating June 6, 1944 on D-Day. A member of the First Presbyterian Church, Lonaconing , she was very involved in church activities. She was a member of the Sanctuary Choir, life-long, founding member of the Presbyterian Women’s Circle, Church Deacon/Church Session member, Sunday School and Vacation Bible School Supervisor and taught women’s Bible studies. For 40 years, she was an organizer of the CROP Walk, which provides worldwide hunger relief.

Leah lived a rich and active life. In her spare time, she enjoyed watching and playing golf and spending long summer nights on her patio. She cherished her beloved family, neighbors and many friends, and enjoyed playing with her grandchildren. Leah was a charitable giver, giving locally, nationally, internationally and to animals and people of all races.

She is survived by her children, J. Gary Marsh and wife Doris of Frostburg, C. Craig Marsh of Lonaconing and Louise Ann Simon and husband John of South Lake Tahoe, CA; seven grandchildren, Joseph Marsh Jr, Kristina Marsh, Caralene Marsh-Edleblute, Lydia Marsh, Jessica Marsh, Leah Simon and Derek Simon; six great-grandchildren, Dylan Donnelly, Cierra Marsh, Talin Simon, Weston Simon, Paige Colmer and Victoria Kellogg; great-great-grandson, Grayson Donnelly; a step-sister, Gloria Snyder and husband Lowell and nieces and nephew, Anita LaJoie Urmann, Heather Schlaff and David McPhee.

Family and friends will be received on Sunday, March 6, 2022 at the First Presbyterian Church, Lonaconing from 1-2 PM. A Celebration of Life will follow at 2:00 PM with Rev. Thomas Morgan officiating. Inurnment will be held privately at Rocky Gap Cemetery, Flintstone. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in memory of Leah to the First Presbyterian Church at 1 East Main Street, Lonaconing, MD 21539. Wilhelm-Eakin Funeral Home, P.A. Lonaconing is assisting the family.
