Leah Ann (Steele) Hawkins, 71, of Woodland, MD, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, August 23, 2022 at her home surrounded by her loved ones. Born on May 14, 1951, she was the daughter of the late George and Betty Steele of Lonaconing.
Leah was a graduate of Valley High School class of 1969. She was a member of Bethel Holiness Church of Lonaconing for 37 years; where she sang in the choir, she loved to sing. She was also the former director of Women’s Ministry, teacher of Sunday School and Children’s Church, and was in charge of the music for Vacation Bible School for many, many years. Leah loved the Lord with all of her heart and was a faithful servant.
She is survived by her beloved husband of 53 years, Robert “Bob” Hawkins; two children, Robby Hawkins and wife Amy and Melissa Farrell and husband Jim; seven grandchildren, Meshach Preston and wife Morgan, Allison Hawkins and boyfriend Brandon, Ashley Robinson and husband Jason, Katie Farrell and fiancé Blake, James Farrell, Jessica Farrell and fiancé Josh and Brooke Hawkins and boyfriend Hunter; four great-grandchildren, Bryson and Aubree Preston and Lane and Kinley Hook; two sisters, Rita Veatch and Bonnie Moore and husband Bob; three brothers, Wayne Steele and wife Donna, Allen Steele and wife Karen and Andy Steele and wife Cheryl and many nieces and nephews.
Family and friends will be received on Thursday, August 25, 2022 from 6-9 PM at Wilhelm-Eakin Funeral Home, P.A., Lonaconing. A funeral service will be held on Friday, August 26, 2022 at 10:00 AM at Bethel Holiness Church of Lonaconing with Pastor David Schoch officiating. Private interment will be held at Rocky Gap Cemetery, Flintstone.
Pallbearers will be David Hawkins, Randy Hawkins, Jason Robinson, Blake Milburn, Josh Schoch, Hunter Crawford and Brandon Scarlett.
