Judith Ann (Hyde) Matthews, 77, of Shaft Road, Frostburg died Saturday, June 4, 2022 at UPMC Western Maryland, Cumberland. Born on May 18, 1945 she was the daughter of the late Rodney Fulton Hyde and Philadelphia “Delphia” Burns (Hunt) Hyde.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond “Smitty” Matthews and a sister, Maxine Metts.
Judy was a member of Grace United Methodist Church, Midland. She was a graduate of Valley High School class of 1963 and a homemaker for most of her life. She was a former member of the Midland Vol. Fire Co. Ladies Auxiliary and a current member of the George’s Creek Senior Center, Lonaconing. She enjoyed going to the senior center, where she learned about Haiku poems. She also loved looking for new recipes. Most of all she loved spending time with family.
She is survived by her children, Jeffrey Matthews and wife Bonnie of Cumberland, Christopher Matthews also of Cumberland and Anastasia Winebrenner and husband Jamie of Midland; six grandchildren, Bonnie Swanger and husband Mike, Jeffrey Matthews and wife Stacy, Rodney Matthews, Dalton Whiteman, Cheyenne Whiteman and Payton Whiteman; four great-grandchildren, Ayden, Isobel, Naomie and Serenity; a brother, Rodney Hyde; special friends, Francis Keyes-Wilson and Wayne Smith and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Family and friends will be received on Thursday, June 9, 2022 from 12-2 PM at Wilhelm-Eakin Funeral Home, P.A., Lonaconing. A funeral service will immediately follow at 2:00 PM Pastor Marjorie Hurder-Buhrman officiating.
