Joyce “Aunt Joyce” Delsie Heithaus, 72, of Swamp Road, Lonaconing, died Wednesday, June 5, 2013, at the Western Maryland Regional Medical Center, Cumberland.
Born on July 17, 1940, in Cumberland, she was the daughter of Archabald MacMillan and Delsie Dora (Barnes) MacMillan. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Richard E. Heithaus on Aug. 23, 1996; her siblings, Vincent MacMillan, Edward MacMillan, Miriam Beeman, Darlene Worthey and Herb MacMillan and two nephews, Alfred MacMillan and William MacMillan.
Aunt Joyce was a member of the Georges Creek Church of the Brethren, Lonaconing. She was a homemaker most of her life but had also worked as a supervisor of Marsh-Allen.
She is survived by her two children, Debra Lynn Solomon and John Bernard Solomon; two grandchildren; a special brother-in-law, Leroy Beeman and sister-in-law, Betty MacMillan and numerous beloved nieces and nephews, most of whom she considered to be her own children.
“Aunt Joyce meant so much to our family. She was like a grandmother, mother and a best friend. She was such a big part of our lives and was always there for each one of us. Every moment spent with her she made us laugh. She made our lives so much fun. She was a pain in the butt sometimes, but she was OUR pain in the butt! We will miss you so much Aunt Joyce.”
Family and friends will be received at the Wilhelm-Eakin Funeral Home, P.A., Lonaconing, on Saturday, June 8, 2013, from 1 to 4 p.m.
A funeral service will be conducted in the funeral home following the receiving of family and friends at 4 p.m. with Pastor Lisa Upole and the Rev. Mark Durst officiating.
Inurnment will be held at the Beeman Cemetery, Lonaconing
