Joanne E. Wilson, 83, of Rockville, MD., passed away Thursday, April 4, 2024. Born August 19,
1940 in Klondike (formerly Lordes), Maryland, she was the daughter to the late Samuel Leptic,
and Helen (Brown/Leptic) Adams.
She was preceded in death by her son Calvin “Jack” Wilson; and her brother Samuel “Sonny” Leptic; and her sister Julia (Adams) Beeman.
Joanne graduated with the class of 1958 from Beall High School in Frostburg, Maryland. She became a dedicated wife, mother of 7, grandmother of 29, and great grandmother of 8 adored children. She was an avid animal lover and gifted artist who loved to do arts and crafts with her grandchildren. She loved boating, water skiing, swimming, diving, eating Maryland crabs in Virginia, creative writing, reading her Bible, decorating for Christmas, cooking for an army, being a second mom or a mother for the motherless, playing cards, and enjoying family quality time. Most of all she enjoyed sharing her love for the Lord Jesus Christ. Her life was a testament to the power of faith, prayer, loyalty, love, service, and family.
She is survived by her husband Calvin “Jack” Wilson Sr., her daughter Donna M.
German and husband Kent German of Pawtucket Rhode Island with son Robert J. And wife
Kelly German with children Tyler, Camden, and Kali of Attleboro, MA; her son Ivan S. Wilson
and wife Ann Pierce-Wilson and children Ivan Jr., Mason, and Liana of Frederick MD; her
daughter Rebekah L. Wilson-Northrop and Husband Scott with Children Calvin, Abigail,
Kyrsten, Joanna, Rena, Madelynn, Daniel, Hollie, Leah, Colton, Gracie, Eli, and Noah; and
grandchildren Lorianna, Kaleigh, Bekah Joanne, Emma, and Levi of Fredericksburg, VA.; her
daughter Leah J. Wilson-Lapp and husband Brandon with children Nathan, Ryan, and Luke of
Finskburg, MD.; her son James M. Wilson and wife Jennifer Wilson with children Kayla, James
Jr., Ethan, Chloe, and Jonathan of Frederick MD; and her son David J. Wilson and wife Melissa
Wilson with children Kayla, Genevieve, Hanna, and Teddy of Mertztown, PA.
Family and friends will be received on Saturday April 13, 2024 from 11am – 1 pm at
Wilhelm-Eakin Funeral Home, P.A., Midland, MD. Funeral service will start at 1 pm following
the viewing at the funeral home with Pastor Matt Eichhorn officiating. Interment will immediately follow the service at Sunset Memorial Park in Cumberland.
