JoAnn Leach

JoAnn Leach, 84, of Lower Georges Creek Road, Lonaconing, passed away on Tuesday, July 2, 2024 at her home with her husband by her side. Born on February 23, 1940 in Lonaconing, she was the daughter of the late Joseph Arthur Wilson and Mary Catherine (Beeman) Wilson. 

She was preceded in death by her twelve siblings, Mildred (Wilson) Rhine, Roy W. Wilson, Marie B. (Wilson) Jones, Margaret (Wilson) Morgan, David Q. Wilson, Joseph A. Wilson, George J. Wilson, William L. Wilson, Edith D. Wilson, Howard H. Wilson, Mary Ellen (Wilson) Brant and James H. Wilson. She was the last surviving member of the Wilson family. She was also preceded in death by her favorite canine companion, Tiny. 

JoAnn married the love of her life, Thomas Leach Jr. in Baltimore on September 30, 1979. She worked at John Hopkins Hospital, Baltimore in housekeeping till her retirement. After she and Tom retired, they moved back to Lonaconing. She loved to shop every chance she got; it was her favorite pastime. In her younger years she enjoyed sitting for her nephew, Dennis and niece, Stacey. Her niece, Mary Margaret Williams was a very good caregiver to her Aunt JoAnn. She leaves behind her loving husband, Tom and many nieces and nephews. 

At her request she will be cremated. JoAnn is in the care of Wilhelm-Eakin Funeral Home, P.A., Lonaconing.
