"Together Again"
Joan L. (Major) Hershberger, 90, of Jackson Street, Lonaconing, died Thursday, August 26, 2021 at her residence. Born on February 10, 1931 in Highland Park, Michigan, she was the daughter of the late Robert S. Major and Mabel (Bond) Major.
She was preceded in death her husband, Richard Lee “Buck” Hershberger on February 9, 1996 and a granddaughter Alicia Hershberger. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family.
Joan was a homemaker and a member of St. Peter’s Episcopal Church, Lonaconing. Within the church she was a member of St. Helena’s Guild.
She is survived by her children, Richard R. Hershberger and wife Karen of Lonaconing, David Hershberger and wife Krista also of Lonaconing and Laura Hall and husband Tommy of Richmond, VA; seven grandchildren, Amy Elliott, Samantha, Jami and Abby Hershberger, Nathan Moses and Jordan and Jared Hall; nine great-grandchildren, Katelyn and Jimmy Elliott, Jacob and Alex Russell, Adam, Dakota and Silas Clayton, Brantlee Griggs and Maverick Hershberger Gordon.
At her request her body will be cremated and there will be no viewing. A memorial service will be held on Sunday, August 29, 2021 at 2:00 PM at St. Peter’s Episcopal Church, Lonaconing. Inurnment will held at a later date at Mt. View Cemetery, Moscow Mills. Wilhelm-Eakin Funeral Home, P.A., Lonaconing assisted the family.
