James “Jimmie” Robert Sexton, 72, of Trey Lane, Barton died Wednesday, January 18, 2017 at his residence. Born in Huntington, WV on November 21, 1944 he was the son of the late James David Sexton and Ina Ruth (Brunty) Sexton.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife Donna Jean (Whiteman) Sexton on January 17, 2010.
Jimmie was a Veteran of U.S. Army serving as an Army Ranger. He loved working on his hot rods and was a member of the National Street Rod Association the Good Guys. He retired after 25 years of service from the State of Maryland Department of Juvenile Services.
He is survived by his daughter, Valerie Lynn Sexton and Thomas Tell of McCoole; two grandchildren, Trey Kieran Piper and wife Chelseyanne Miranda Piper of Frostburg and Emilie Payge Perkins of Lonaconing; one great-granddaughter, Charlotte Lucille Piper; mother-in-law, Catherine Whiteman of Cresaptown; two sisters-in-law, Catherine Ellen Payne of Cresaptown and Thelma Louise Foutz of Barton; three brothers-in-law, William James Whiteman of National, Phillip Allen Whiteman of Savage River and Stanley John Whiteman of Aberden and numerous nieces and nephews including a special nephew Dave Whiteman.
A memorial service will be held at Wilhelm-Eakin Funeral Home, P.A., Lonaconing on Tuesday, January 24, 2016 at 6:00PM with Rev. Robert Fletcher officiating. Family and friends will be received one hour prior to the service. Inurnment will be held at Green Cemetery, Lonaconing on Wednesday, January 25, 2017 at 1:00PM.
