James Edward Gowans, 55, of Church Street, Lonaconing died Wednesday, December 31, 2014 at his residence. Born on January 20, 1959 in Frostburg he was the son of Anna (Boyd) Gowans and the late James Picken Gowans.
He was a graduate of Valley High School and a member of the First Presbyterian Church, Lonaconing. When he was a younger man he enjoyed spending time at the South Branch of the Potomac River. He also enjoyed hunting and fishing.
Together with his mother, Anna Gowans he is also survived by his daughter, Sloan Gowans; one grandson, Jason; two sisters, Sandy Wilt and husband Keith of Lonaconing and Lynn Love and husband Jim of Lonaconing; two aunts, Jeanette Yates of Annapolis and Delora Gowans and husband Jack of Lonaconing; nieces and nephews, Shelly Jefferies and husband Jesse, Travis Love, Casey Love and Noelle Wilt all of Lonaconing and two cousins, Margie Yates of Crofton and Kim Preston and family of Barton.
A memorial service will be held at the Wilhelm-Eakin Funeral Home, P.A., Lonaconing on Sunday, January 18, 2015 at 5:00 PM with Rev. Thomas Morgan officiating. Family and friends will be received two hours prior to the service from 3-5PM. Inurnment will take place at Oak Hill Cemetery at a later date.
