Ivan Lee Poland, 79, of Seldom Seen Road, Lonaconing died Friday, April 24, 2015 at the Western Maryland Regional Medical Center, Cumberland. Born on August 6, 1935 in Lonaconing he was the son of the late Charles William Poland and Sara Marie (Coleman) Poland.
Along with his parents he was also preceded in death by his brother, David Charles Poland.
After Ivan’s mother passed in 1976, he took care of his father till he passed away in 2000.
Ivan is survived by his sisters, Peggy M. Garlitz, Mary L. Steele and Harriet D. Smith; two brothers-in-law, Raymond Steele and Chester Smith; four nieces, Karen L. Wright, Margaret Hinzy, June Hampe, and Ellen Smith; eight nephews, James, Kenneth, Bernard, Gary and Kevin Garlitz, William and Todd Smith and Charles Green. He is also survived by a special great-nephew, Tyler Smith.
Family and friends will be received at the Wilhelm-Eakin Funeral Home, P.A., Lonaconing on Sunday, April 26, 2015 from 4-8PM. A funeral service will he held at the funeral home on Monday, April 27, 2015 at 1:00 PM with Rev. George Loar officiating. Interment will be held at Blocher Cemetery, Frostburg.
