Irene Ruth “Rene” McLaughlin died Sunday, October 23, 2016, age 66, born in Oldtown, residing in Lonaconing. Beloved daughter of late parents, Estel K. and Ruth H. McLaughlin.
She was the loving sister of Kermit (Rita) McLaughlin, the late William (Wilda) McLaughlin, and the late Faith M. (Jack) Shoup. The Aunt of nephews William (Georgene) McLaughlin, Mark (Sandy) McLaughlin, and nieces, the late Deborah S. Nagy, Teresa “Teesie” Shoup from Pittsburgh, and multiple great nephews and nieces.
Rene was a true testament to the human spirit making everyone who met and spent any time with her, fall in love with her. Rett Syndrome may have limited her in many ways, but it didn’t limit her quirky personality. She was well cared for by the many special staff members from CECA (The Council for Exceptional Children and Adults). To Rene, these people were not just caregivers, but family and vice versa. A moment in our lives; forever in our hearts. God speed our dear Rene.
Family and friends will be receive at Wilhelm-Eakin Funeral Home, P.A., Lonaconing on Thursday, October 27, 2016 from Noon-1:00PM. A funeral service will follow at 1:00PM with Rev. George Loar officiating. Interment will be held at Oldtown Cemetery , Old Cemetery Rd SE and a graveside service will take place at 3:30PM.
