Hugh James Matthews of Beechwood Street, Lonaconing died at the Egle Nursing Home in Lonaconing on Wednesday, September 23, 2015.
Born on January 4, 1928 he was the son of the late Hugh and Charlotte Matthews. He was preceded in death by a son, Kevin Matthews.
He is survived by his wife Norma (Kitzmiller) Matthews and devoted son Randall Matthews; granddaughter Ashley Matthews; two sisters Viola Drew and Patty Hollern; a special cousin Mary Brode and several nieces and nephews.
He retired as a driving instructor. He served in the U.S. Army and was a member of Farrady Post #24 American Legion, Frostburg, MD.
At his request he will be cremated and no services will be held. Wilhelm-Eakin Funeral Home, P.A. assisted the family.
