Harold "Newt" Frederick Muir, Sr., 82, formerly of Front Street, Lonaconing died Friday, April 6, 2012 at Moran Manor Nursing Home, Westernport. Born on October 24, 1929 he was the son of the late Charles Lesley Muir and Margaret "Nellie" Ellen Clupp.
He was preceded in death by one daughter, Diana L. Miller, two brothers, Charles W. Muir and John Robert Muir and one grandson, Charles L. Short.
Harold was a veteran of the U.S. States Air Force serving in the Korean War. He was a member of the former Alvin C. Neat Post #5280 V.F.W., Lonaconing, MD and Barton American Legion Post #189.
He is survived by his four children, Patricia Bopst of Glen Burnie, Harold F. Muir, Jr. of Glen Burnie , Donna Santucci and husband Ray of Baltimore and Robert Muir and wife Donna of Baltimore; twelve grandchildren, Brenda, Jeffrey, Kimberly, Chuckie, Annie, Nichole, Nikki, Robert, Jr., Harold III, Michael, Shelby and Sydney; eleven great-grandchildren, Jason, Johnny, Kyle, Harley, Kolton, Davilyn, Jazmin, Brook, Rayvin, Jordan and April; four sisters, Jean Martin of Westernport, Mary Margaret Boore of Frostburg , Alice House of Pasadena and Shirley Muir of Westernport; two brothers, Earl Muir of Ohio and Eugene Muir of Nikep, MD; numerous nieces and nephews and his ex-wife, Anna Muir.
Family and Friends will be received at the Eichhorn-McKenzie Funeral Home P.A. (www.eichhornmckenzie.com), Lonaconing on Monday, April 9, 2012 from 6-8PM. A memorial service will be held by the Barton American Legion Post #189 at 7 PM. A funeral service will be held at the funeral home on Tuesday, April 10, 2012 at 11:00 AM with Pastor Robert “Jack” Harrison officiating. Interment will be held at Laurel Hill Cemetery, Moscow Mills.
