Gordon Cameron

Gordon Staup Cameron, 78, of Lonaconing, went to be with the Lord on Monday, June 12, 2023 at Egle Nursing Home, Lonaconing. Born on February 7, 1945, he was the son of the late Arch Cameron and Edna (Staup) Cameron.

He was preceded in death by his brothers, Bill Cameron, and Marvin Cameron. He was the last surviving member of his immediate family.

Gordon was a graduate of Valley High School. He went on to work at the Celanese and after its closing he went into construction; he was a hard-working man. In his spare time, he loved going to the ocean. He was a member of Living Waters Church, Lonaconing.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Eleanor (Bennett) Cameron, wed on September 26, 2003; two stepchildren, Kathleen Spiker and husband Carl of Barton and Gary McKenzie and husband Kevin of Cumberland; several nieces and nephews including a special niece, Helen Weddle and husband Mike.

Family and friends will be received on Saturday, June 17, 2023 from 12-2 PM at Wilhelm-Eakin Funeral Home, P.A., Midland. A funeral service will immediately follow at 2:00 PM with Rev. Jim Taylor officiating. Interment will be held at Frostburg Memorial Park.

Pallbearers will be Frank “Buck” Bennett, Ed Bennett, Richard Bennett, Bud Bennett, Donnie Bennett, and Mike Weddle.

The family would like to thank Egle Nursing Home for the superior care they provided to Gordy.
