Glenn French Miller, 75, Lonaconing, passed away peacefully on Friday, August 9, at his home with his devoted wife by his side.

Born April 13, 1949, in Frostburg, he was the son of the late Peryl (French) and Aden T. Miller. He was also preceded in death by his brother Aden C. Miller.

Glenn is survived by his wife of 51 years Bonnie Fairgrieve Miller; cousins Helen Conlon Wilson, Carol Miller James (Bob), and Greg Miller (Wilma); sisters-in-law Sandy Fairgrieve Martin (Bill), Ginger Fairgrieve Lanthorn (Laura), Cathy Fairgrieve Logue; brother-in-law James Fairgrieve; lifelong friends Bud and Nancy McCutcheon Evans; and many nieces and nephews. 

Glenn was a graduate of the Valley High School Class of 1967, Potomac State College, and Frostburg State University. He worked as an inspector at the Kelly-Springfield Tire Company until the plant closed followed by a position at the Appalachian Environmental Laboratory in Frostburg working with their homing pigeon project. Glenn ended his career with Site-Blauvelt Engineers, Mt. Laurel, NJ, as a Pennsylvania pre-cast concrete inspector working at Williams Concrete, Cumberland, and Eagle Concrete, Somerset. 

Catholic by faith, Glenn was a member of the now-closed St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Lonaconing. Over the years, he enjoyed racing homing pigeons, deer hunting, fishing, ginseng hunting, trapshooting, and especially spending time on his farm on Laurel Run Road in Moscow. He was a member of the Never Seen Hunting Club, Seldom Seen Road, Lonaconing, the Allegany-Garrett Sportsmen’s Association, and the now-closed George’s Creek Racing Pigeon Club. 

Glenn was a good man and a true outdoorsman who knew he was loved. He will be missed by his wife Bonnie and his many friends and family.

At his request, Glenn will be cremated with his ashes spread at some of his favorite places and there will be no memorial service. The Wilhelm-Eakin Funeral Home, P.A., Lonaconing, is in charge of the arrangements.
