Florence Stafford

Florence M. Stafford, 98, of Seldom Seen Road, Lonaconing died Tuesday, October 15, 2013 at the Western Maryland Regional Medical Center, Cumberland.

Mrs. Stafford was a homemaker and a member of the Westernport Church of the Brethren. She graduated from Barton High School in 1932 and spent most of her adult life in Allegany County.

She was born in Lonaconing, May 14, 1915 to George F.S. and Meadie (Green) Jeffrey. In 1934 she and Alexander H. Stafford were married. He preceded in her in death in 1971.

Mrs. Stafford is survived by her daughter and caregiver for the last 4 years, Mrs. Wilbur (Shirley) Fischer of Madisonville, TX and 4 grandchildren: Terrence Fischer, Pamela Fischer, Elizabeth Fischer and Carla Lucas.

She was preceded in death by her husband and six brothers and two sisters: John T. Jeffrey, George H. Jeffrey, Paul D. Jeffrey, Francis S. Jeffrey, James A. Jeffrey, Robert L. Jeffrey, Edna M. Thomas and Mildred Viola Thrasher.


Family and friends will be received at the Wilhelm-Eakin Funeral Home, P.A., Lonaconing on Sunday, October 20, 2013 from 2-4 PM and 6-8PM.  A funeral service will be held at the funeral home on Monday, October 21, 2013 at 11:00AM with Rev. Diane May and Rev. William Shimer officiating. Interment will be held at Frostburg Memorial Park.
