Ethel May (Powell) Gentry, 102, of Gettysburg, PA and formerly of Lonaconing, died August 24, 2011 at Transition Health Care, Gettysburg, PA. Born on April 1, 1909 in Ocean, MD she was the daughter of the late Joseph Wesley Powell and Mary Jane (Spiker) Powell Rae.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John Gentry on August 13, 1979; four brothers, Hughie, Ernest, George, and Joe and three sisters, Margaret Powell, Myrtle Elliott and Anna Logsdon.
She was a homemaker and a member of the First United Methodist Church, Lonaconing and the Senior Citizens of Georges Creek.
She is survived by her three sons, John Gentry, Jr. of Gettysburg, PA, Alvin E. Gentry of Fruitland, MD and Donald Lee Gentry of Hanover, PA; four grandchildren, three step-grandchildren, three great-grandchild and four great-great-grandchildren; one brother, James Powell of Cumberland, MD and a half-brother, John Rae of Cumberland, MD; one sister Mary Hazel Miller also of Cumberland, MD and numerous nieces and nephews.
Family and Friends will be received at the Eichhorn-McKenzie Funeral Home P.A. ( www.eichhornmckenzie.com ),Lonaconing on Friday, August 26, 2011 from 6-8 PM. A funeral service will be held at the funeral home on Saturday, August 27, 2011at 10:00 AM with the Rev. George Harpold officiating. Interment will be held Eckhart Cemetery.
