Edward Howard Douglass, 77, of Lonaconing Street, Midland died, Tuesday, November 8, 2022 at Lions Center, Cumberland with his wife by side. Born on March 13, 1945 in Cumberland, he was the son of the late Howard Douglass and Kate (Doolan) Douglass.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Patrick Douglass.
Edward was a 1963 graduate of Fort Hill High School and a 1965 graduate of Allegany College of Maryland. He worked for Warehouse Foods for 20 plus years as a sales representative before retiring. A U.S. veteran, he served a combined 22 years in the Maryland Army National Guard and the West Virginia Air Guard. He had been a member of several local organizations including the Midland Fire Department, George’s Creek Ambulance Service and the Frostburg Ambulance Service and for over 20 years he instructed EMT classes for Garrett, Allegany and Washington counties. Edward was a member of St. Peter’s Episcopal Church, Lonaconing.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 54 years, Diana Douglass; a daughter, Anne Cook and husband Michael of Lonaconing; two grandsons, Jordan and Noah Cook and a sister, Paula Douglass of Kingwood, WV.
Family and friends will be received on Friday, November 18, 2022 from 6-8 PM at Wilhelm-Eakin Funeral Home, P.A., Midland. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, November 19, 2022 at 11:00 AM at St. Peter’s Episcopal Church, Lonaconing with Rev. Garrett Carskadon and Rev. John Martin officiating.
At the request of the family donations in memory of Edward may be made to the charity of your choice or to St. Peter’s Episcopal Church at 6 St. Peter’s Place, Lonaconing, MD 21539.
