Dwaine Fairgrieve

Dwaine "Dick" Fairgrieve, 87, of Skyline Drive, Moscow passed away peacefully on December 17, 2013 at his residence with his family at his side. He was a very beloved husband, father and pap.  Dick fought a courageous battle with Merkel Cell Carcinoma for the last 9 months. He was born July 28, 1926 in Moscow he was the son of the late James Fairgrieve and Maude (Green) Fairgrieve.

He was preceded in death by one son Paul H. Fairgrieve, one granddaughter Lisa Fairgrieve, three brothers Lester, Milton and Galen Fairgrieve, 2 sisters Evelyn Shuck and Gladys McCabe, one son-in-law James Dye, Sr. and one daughter-in-law Pamela Fairgrieve.

Dick was a veteran of the U.S. Navy serving in WWII. He worked in construction and retired from the Laborers Local 616. He was an avid hunter and fisherman. A longtime member of the George's Creek Pigeon Club, he was a great marksman and participated in many pigeon shooting matches in the area.

He is survived by his wife of 70 years Marie; three sons William Fairgrieve and wife Jean of Moscow, Richard Fairgrieve and wife Charlotte of VA and Steven Fairgrieve of Barton; three daughters Peggy Dye of Moscow, Kaye Harr and husband Curtis of South Dakota and Diana Johnson and husband Paul of Barton; sixteen grandchildren Shelly Stowell, Melissa Banner, James Dye, Jr., Felicia and Erica Fairgrieve, Terri Burch, William Fairgrieve, Tiffany Droll, Paul Johnson, Michelle Wilson, Renee Taylor, Kim Llewellyn, Paula Opal, Richard Fairgrieve, Joshua and Christopher Harr; thirty great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; one daughter-in-law Susan Fairgrieve;  two brothers John Ray Fairgrieve of Lonaconing and Hogan Fairgrieve of Detmold; one sister Delores Sterling of IL and numerous nieces and nephews.

At his request he will be cremated and  there will be no visitation. A memorial service will be held at a later date. Arrangements were handled by Wilhelm-Eakin Funeral Home, P.A., Lonaconing.

The family wishes to extend their gratitude to Western Maryland Home Hospice for the excellent care they provided.
