Dorothy "Dot" Loar

Dorothy “Dot” Loar, 81, of Lonaconing, went to be with the Lord on Friday, May 12, 2023 at UPMC Western Maryland, Cumberland. Born on January 4, 1942 in Lonaconing, she was the daughter of the late John and Birdie (Snyder) Buskirk.

She was preceded in death by her first husband, Harold Mason, siblings, Josephine Booth and Charles Buskirk, a grandson and a great-grandson.

Dot was a 1960 graduate of Valley High School. She enjoyed working as an in home caretaker for the elderly for many years. She was a member of Bethel Holiness Church, Lonaconing.

She is survived by her beloved husband of almost 25 years, David Loar; five children, Donna Joy and husband Wayne of Little Orleans, MD, Harold “Rocky” Mason and wife Sue of Fort Ashby, WV, Bobby Joe Mason and wife Denise of New Bruanfels, TX, Larry “Hammer” Mason of Fairfield, PA and Autumn DeVore and husband Brian of Frostburg, MD; two step-daughters, Cheryl Loar of Greenville, NC and Jeannie Loar of Pittsburgh, PA; thirteen grandchildren, fourteen great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild; two sisters, Carol McKenzie and husband Arthur and Wilda McKenzie and several nieces and nephews.

Family and friends will be received on Tuesday, May 16, 2023 from 6-8 p.m. at Wilhelm-Eakin Funeral Home, P.A., Lonaconing. A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, May 17, 2023 at 1:00 p.m. at Bethel Holiness Church, Lonaconing with Pastor David Schoch officiating. Interment will take place at Green Cemetery, Lonaconing.
