Dorothy Metz

Dorothy Marie Metz, 72, of O'Mara Avenue, Midland died Monday, March 3, 2014 at the Western Maryland Regional Medical Center, Cumberland. Born on April 18, 1941 in Midland she was the daughter of the late Charles Winters and Mary (Hunt) Winters.

She was preceded in death by a daughter, Patty Ann Johnson and a brother, James Winters.

Her kindness touched many. Her willingness to help others was her trademark. She was the strongest and most loving wife, mother and grandmother.  Dorothy will be deeply missed by her family and friends.

She is survived by her husband of 56 years Raymond Metz; two children, Debbie Hawkins and husband Jack of Frostburg and Ronnie Metz and wife Ann of Hagerstown; five grandchildren, Jaron Hawkins, Amy and Erica Metz and Mandy and Jessica Johnson; three great-grandchildren, Ashlynn, Aynsley and Audrey; one sister, Mary Joann Coleman and husband Rev. Gary Coleman of Cresaptown; one brother, Charles Winters of Cresaptown and numerous nieces and nephews.

Family and friends will be received at the Wilhelm-Eakin Funeral Home, P.A., Midland on Thursday, March 6, 2014 from 2-4 PM and 7-9 PM. A funeral service will be held at the funeral home on Friday, March 7, 2013 at 11:00 AM with Rev. Gary Coleman. Interment will be held at Frostburg Memorial Park.

The family would like to give a special thank you to Dr. Zaman and the staff of the Schwab Family Cancer Center for the compassion they showed Dorothy and the excellent care they provided.
