Short Gap, WV
Dorothy Maxine Kerns, “Gran”, 88, from Short Gap, WV went to be with the lord, Sunday, February 28, 2016 at the Western Maryland Health System.
Dorothy was born December 17, 1927 in Midland, Maryland. She was the daughter of the late Adolph Francis Wagus and Dorothy Mae (Hogamire) Wagus. She was preceded in death by her husband, John Edward Foutz, one son, Ernest McKinley Foutz, a great granddaughter and her sister, Mary Brode. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family.
Dorothy was previously employed by Michael Berkowitz Company in Frostburg. She retired from Frostburg State University and also worked at the Frostburg Senior Center. Dorothy enjoyed spending time with her friends, family and her two best buds, George and Lucy. She also enjoyed dancing and country music.
She is survived by her 4 children, Bonnie Lee “Jane” Thompson and husband Roy, Cresaptown, Wilma Lee “Willi” Shaffer-Rose and husband Richy, Short Gap, WV, Jacalyn Elise “Jax” Haywood and husband Brian, LaVale, and John Edward Foutz Jr and wife Emma Love, Fort Ashby; a special friend and care giver, Lori Didawick, New Creek WV, which she loved like a daughter; 11 grandchildren, James Shockey III, Ashley Farris and husband Anthony, Charles M. Shaffer and friend Michael Raab, Travis Duckworth, Kendra Morris, Trapper “Buzzy” Duckworth, Stephanie Beitzel and husband Eric, John Foutz III, Carissa Ratcliff and husband Justin, Roy Thompson Jr. and Brenda Faith ;21 great grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild.
Friends and family will be received at the Wilhelm- Eakin Funeral Home, P.A., Midland, Maryland on Tuesday March 1, 2016 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 pm A funeral service will be held in the funeral home on Wednesday, March 2, 2016 at 11:00AM with Rev. George Loar, officiating. Interment will be held at Mountain View Cemetery, Moscow Mills, MD.

Pallbearers will be James Shockey, Charles Shaffer, John Foutz III, “Buzzy” Duckworth, Travis Duckworth, Tallon Albright and honorary pallbearer Anthony Farris.
