Dorothy Brode

Dorothy Jean Brode, 70, of Lower Georges Creek Road, Lonaconing died Tuesday, February 15, 2011 at the Western Maryland Regional Medical Center, Cumberland. Born October 1, 1940 in Lonaconing she was the daughter of the late Joseph Crawford, Jr. and Elsie (Duckworth) Crawford.

She was preceded in death by two brothers, Charles Crawford and Harry Crawford and two sisters, Frances Spano and Margaret Green.

Dorothy was of Protestant faith. She was a graduate of Valley High School, Lonaconing class of 1959. She was also a  member of Post #155 VFW Ladies Auxiliary, Westernport and a Den Mother for Cub Scouts Pack #26. She sat on the Board of Directors for Cub Scouts and Boy Scouts

She is survived by her husband, John H. Brode; three sons, John Joseph Brode and wife Lynnette of Cumberland, David Lee Brode and wife Flori of Lompoc, CA and Thomas Edward Brode of Lonaconing; five grandchildren, Jennifer, Jacob, Joshua, Daniel and Megan; two step-grandchildren, Justin and Katlyn; one step-great-grandchild, Jaden; one sister, Reta Moore of Michigan; very special friend Bonnie Andrews of Middle Town and friend Hood Geisbert of Urbana and beloved numerous nieces and nephews.

Family and Friends will be received at the Eichhorn-McKenzie Funeral Home P.A. ( www.eichhornmckenzie.com ), Lonaconing on Thursday, February 17, 2011 from 2-4 PM and 6-8 PM. A funeral service will be held at the funeral home on Friday, February 18, 2011 at 11:00 AM with the Rev. George Loar officiating. Interment will be held Laurel Hill Cemetery, Moscow Mills.
